A schema is a cognitive framework or concept that helps organize and interpret information.  Schemas can be useful because they allow us to take shortcuts in interpreting the vast amount of information that is available in our environment . What are the 4 schemas? There are four main types of schemas. These are centered around  objects, the self, roles, and events . Schemas can be changed and reconstructed throughout a person's life. The two processes for doing so are assimilation and accommodation.
